Today I got a much needed, overdue haircut. I'm sure you were thinking the same thing if you saw the pictures I posted recently. I have used the same stylist since I was 16. She moved to a nearby town, and I decided to make the drive (about 40 minutes) to keep her cutting my hair. Well, I missed my last appointment because she had the wrong date/day written on my card. Then, she couldn't get me in until about four more weeks. Well, this head of hair could not wait. I went to a new stylist today. She came recommended by my aunt, sister and cousin. She was a lot of fun. Plus, she was half the driving time, which with gas prices, is wonderful.
Now, I knew my hair was a mess. This is the deal. I have naturally curly, abnormally thick, coarse hair. I have a hard time knowing what in the world to do with it. Gina, my new stylist, gently referred to it as a "hot mess." Ha! The stylist I had before evidently (with good intentions I'm sure) texturized it and thinned it too much and adding that I use a Chi flattening iron every day, it was literally a "hot mess." Gina suggested we cut it pretty short in the back and angle it to the front. I wasn't so sure about it, but she thought it would be cute and convinced me we really needed to do this so the hair that had been thinned underneath could have a chance to grow. Plus, she said it would look healthier. I am not a risk taker, but today I felt brave and went for it. I didn't take a before picture. I never thought I would go this short! The front is not that different, it's mainly the back, and I think it might look a little better tucked behind my ears. Oh, I don't know! Here are some afters. I have NEVER had hair this short. I kind of like it, but I'm sure when it grows out a little I'll do something else. I'm thinking about even embracing the curls again. We'll see. Ugh, the whole hair issue wears me out!

I had to mention she used a "Croc" (it looks like a crocodile because of the little moisture vents on the sides), not a Chi. She said this flattening iron was much better for my hair than the Chi because it allows steam when your hair is a bit damp. It reduces frizz, split ends, and retains natural moisture, which I need because my hair can be dry, frizzy, and all split. I have been the first to sing the praises of the Chi iron. Besides capri pants (remember 5'11"), the Chi iron was the best thing that ever happened to me. However, I have to admit I was impressed with this Croc and will give it a go after my Chi kicks it.
Okay, I am done boring you to death. If you weren't sleepy before, you probably are now. Ha! Have a great weekend. We have big plans that I'm excited about. I'll share more later.
Night night.

I LOVE IT! The style looks really good on you. I'm glad you went out on a limb and tried something new. You look hot mama! I'm sure Derek would agree :)
Seriously sister - no "hot mess" now, just H-O-T, HOT! I LOVE it! You look great!!!!
Super cute and perfect for summer!
I'd die for a fraction of your hair - hot mess & all!!
LEIGH ANN - you look beautiful! I love it!!! I think you should keep it short! It's very flattering and it looks so shiny and healthy!
You look very CHIC!!!!
P.S. I've always loved your hair - I loved in college when it was long and curly! You were so cute! (still are!)
I concur...I LOVE IT, too!!! It looks awesome on you. I definitely think your "go with the flow" attitude paid off. Ae likes it as well. She said, "Ms. Leigh Ann's hair is up to her ears. That's how I want my hair, Mama." LOL
LAH ~ I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new hair cut! It looks so GREAT on you =)!
Hmmm? The Croc? Sounds interesting...
LOVE THE HAIR!! Speaking to one naturally curly hair moma to another, I think your hair is cut just like mine!! Mine seems to be a little more "stacked" in the back than yours. I would love to see it curly!
I love the haircut! I have friend who just got that do and it is a good look and quite stylish, too.
Have a good weekend! Can't wait to hear the big plans.
Oh your hair is sooo cute! Love it! I know you just love it too!
I think it looks incredible! It's your new summer 'do! I need one myself. I find myself throwing my hair in a ponytail everyday! UGGGGGGHHHH!
Leigh Ann- Your haircut is adorable!!! I love it! :)
Have a great weekend. :)
Oooooh! Love the new do! Looks great!:)
Hey Leigh Ann, I came over from Jill's blog and I am Cortneys' mom. I met you at Park Plaza a few weeks ago. Your new do looks TERRIFIC!! You and I are having a twinkie day. I too went to a new stylist today!!! I had been driving to Conway to have my hair cut and with gas and the time it took out of my day, I was just over it. I actually went to someone in my hometown (first time anyone in my hometown has cut my hair in over 25 years)!! I was just over the driving thing. It was great she really did a good job, plus I got color today so imagine how nervous I was, I just keep praying. And when she pulled out the razor and started razoring it I nearly fainted. But it really turned out cute. And she used one of those Crocs on me too. I didn't know that was what they were called.
Just wanted to also say, your family is adorable and I love the picture of your kiddos on your blog title.
Didn't mean to write a book!
Your hair looks AWESOME! I love it! Don't you just love a new haircut? I even love just to get mine trimmed...it just feels so good and fresh!
(Plus, the stylist can always style it SO much better than I can!)
ooooooooohhhhhh!!! You look so great! I love your new hair!!! :) And I will DEFINITELY be looking into the croc! My hair is so hard to tame...I am always on the lookout for new products that work well on frizzy, thick, coarse hair!
It's too friggin'-fraggin' AWESOME!!!!! It frames your face and the back of it shows how pretty your neck is! LOVE IT!! (BTW? We are pretty much hair twins now.)
Leigh Ann
How great to see you and your precious family! I have been entrenched with reading about what has been going on! (Love the new haircut! You know I can relate with the hair hassles ... what with curls and thickness it takes me 45 min to blow dry each time!Talk about wearing a person out - haha!)
I heard about the blogging you guys are doing during the reunion this weekend (we missed you) and HAD to see! LOVE THIS! I now understand what blogging is!
I hope you and Derek are having a fabulous Father's Day Weekend! I can't wait to hear about it and see pics! I was praying for your sweet family while he was away and so grateful he was returned safely home to you guys!
Our family is heading to Magic Springs for our first ever trip there!
I guess I need to get something set up because I don't have a blog or any other identity, so for now I will have to be your anonymous friend! :)
With Love,
Suzanna
It looks GREAT!!!! Love it!
Love, love, love your new haircut! Looks so very trendy! How fun! I am going to have to check-out the "croc". Hope yall had a great Fathers Day!

Love, love, love it!!! You are one sassy girl! We definitely need a GNO to show off this sassy 'do!
Your hair is beautiful! I'm having a super hard time believing your hair is usually "frizzy and all split" because it looks so shiny and healthy! Now, ME...I live in the world of dry, frizzy, and all split! I too sing the praises of the Chi...and yet, you've intrigued me...the "Croc"?? What is the wonderful new invention??? Hmmm..... I'm going to have to check this little guy out...
I came over from Kelly's blog. You have a beautiful, beautiful family! And, yet, how did I find myself first commenting on the hair post...
Have a great day!
Leigh Ann - I don't know what happened, but bloglines JUST NOW showed like 7 posts from you that I had not seen before. I squealed when I saw these pics of your new do!! It looks FABULOUS!! So flattering on you, so shiny and healthy...just gorgeous!!!
Sorry I didn't see this before now, but I triple love it!!
C-U-T-E! I have never heard of a Croc, but will definitely check it out!
