Evan, Ella Grace, and I want to wish a very Happy Father's Day to Derek! Last year, Derek was in Iraq, so this Father's Day was very special, not that we did anything fantastic, but it was Ella Grace and Derek's first Father's Day celebrated together. We started the morning with Derek's favorite donuts from Shipley Donuts. They are SO good. We even prefer them over Krispy Kreme if you can imagine that!!!
We spent the morning just playing with Evan and Ella. Then, Derek wanted to take the kids to see "KungFu Panda." Evan and EG didn't last quite the entire movie, so we headed home for lunch. I made Mexican Chicken.
When Derek returned from summer camp a couple of weeks ago, he informed me he had already gotten his Father's Day gift. Wow! I didn't know I had gotten him something so nice! His old laptop puttered out, so he got a new one. Well, that solved my shopping dilemma, and he needed it, so I guess it worked out for both of us. I have actually enjoyed it myself and have been blogging from it some. I don't use it too often because I'm afraid I'll get spoiled and/or spend too much time on it. It's really easy to be on it a lot when you are cuddled up on the couch. I do borrow it from time-to-time though.
I think the best gift of all was that BOTH children took a nap (very uncommon for Evan to take a nap at all) and AT THE SAME TIME! Whoo Hoo! Derek and I enjoyed time together just the two of us for about three hours (THREE HOURS!). After E & EG woke up, Derek went over to his Dad's house to mow his lawn. His Dad hasn't been feeling well. Then, we settled in for take-out from Taco Bueno. Now, to top off what has seemed to be a perfect Father's Day, that Celtic/Laker contest thing is on AGAIN! Derek is SO happy, but I am wondering when in the world will that thing be over??!
Happy Father's Day, Daddy! You are such a wonderful daddy. You make us so happy, and we love you so much!
I also wanted to say Happy Father's Day to my dad...
and to Derek's dad...
I hope all of you had a special day today, too. Hugs!

I'm so glad you guys had such a great Father's Day. I know you are so happy to have Derek at home. I love all your family time together!
I'm with you on the Shipley's donuts! They are THE BEST! I craved them so bad when I was pregnant with Luke. I would justify getting donuts in the morning so I could drink milk with them (I don't like drinking milk with anything except sweets). Ha! Guess that's why he came out weighing NINE POUNDS AND ELEVEN OUNCES!!!! Ha! Thank the Lord for C-sections! :)
Have a great week!
Great pictures of what looks like a perfect day!
And THREE hours!?!?! I'm jealous! R has taken one nap since we moved to this house a year ago, and that was in Gulf Shores after we'd traveled all day! :)
Looks like your sweet family had a wonderful day together! I vote for Shipley's over KK also! YUM!
What a great day! I loved your very sweet post!
Shipley Donuts!!! YUM! And I loved the pictures!!
I got spoiled with using my man's laptop, so he bought me my own! Yeah! I love it! It's the neatest thing to sit on the couch, watch TV and BLOG!!
This is so sweet!!! I am so glad that E & EG were able to have their daddy home for this Father's Day! It sounds like it was a very special one!!!
Looks like a great day (as if a day could a day be bad with donuts and a 3 hour nap??!!)
And enjoy your computer - I have the same one and love it :)
Awwww...I am so glad Ella Grace got to be with your husband on Father's Day. I know that made it extra special!
And the kids taking a 3 hour nap? What could be better??
What a fun day!
What a wonderful Father's day! I love the picture of Evan and Derek and the one of EG's and Derek's hands - so sweet!!!! I love seeing your world through the lense of your camera! I think that sounds like the perfect, slow-paced, enjoy time toghether day!!!
Sounds like a perfect Father's day to me!!!!! Yeay for Derek's new laptop!!!!
And I'm with you - when will the NBA be over? Scott doesn't even like basketball but he has insisted on watching every playoff game and they are on so late and I just want to sleep! :-)
I just wanted to stop by. I have seen you on several other blogs and thought it time I come over to yours.
I love your new hair cut!!
And, your family looks fabulous!
What a great daddy he is!! I'm glad you all were able to enjoy the day together. The picture of him and Evan is great, as is the one of his hands and EG's. Priceless.
