I Can't Drive 55

Well, at least I guess I can't drive 25. I got a ticket yesterday morning. That's just the pits! I wasn't really paying attention to how fast I was going because I was just moving along with the traffic (so, I know I wasn't the only one). However, as luck would have it, I was the one caught and given a ticket by the "not so nice" motorcycle cop.

Of course I called Derek on the way home and told him, "I love you. I just got a speeding ticket." I am so thankful for a sweet, understanding husband that just says, "I'm sorry. That happens sometimes." Have I ever mentioned he has the patience of Job? He has to to live with me. Ha!

I'm just thankful I was still able to make it to school and get Evan to his classroom before the tardy bell rang. However, it's not a very fun way to start out the week. I am irritated at myself for adding one more thing to my list of things to do this week that was so unnecessary had I been paying attention. Now, I have to carve out some time this week to go to their office and take care of my ticket, and do this with a 23-month-old in tow. That should be fun. Ugh!

Have you ever gotten a speeding ticket?

Oops! Bet that made for a fun day!

I've never gotten a ticket, but I can say I should have many, many times!

Were you with me that time I got my first ticket - on the way to see Tayna McPeak in a pageant freshman year - I think there were about 8 girls packed into my Beretta GT that night. NOT GOOD! That was the first of many, many, many tickets. Did you know I had to do 24 hours of community service and call a probation officer when I was about 25 because I had so many tickets and the Judge was not happy???? ha ha ha ha ha! My shady past!

Why can't you just send a check in the mail? Just curious!

Sorry you got a ticket!

I am sorry you got a ticket! They are no fun. I got my first ticket with Michelle (imagine that) racing from Sears to Peaches Records on McCain Blvd. trying to get tickets to see Bon Jovi!!! Way back in the day!! ha!

So sorry about your ticket. Yeah, I've had a couple of speeding tickets, all of them deserved.

John actually got a ticket on our first date! We were coming back from Hot Springs and he got stopped by a policeman in that little town between HS and Arkadelphia (I should know the name of it!). He was embarrassed at the time, but we laugh about it now. I tell him he was just SO distracted by my beauty that he wasn't paying attention to his speedometer! LOL!

Oh, have I! I have had 4, I think! The last one was at the end of May and I don't think it was really my ticket. My boss went flying past me in a car exactly like mine and then I got pulled over. I tell him all the time that it was really his ticket. Then, I called Michael and told him it was all his fault because I didn't want that car and that if I had not been in a BMW it would not have happened! Ha!

Bless your heart LAH! I have heard that cops will pull over the biggest car that is speeding...GRR! I can just hear sweet Derek saying it was okay ;)!

Why is it that the motorcycle cops are the meanest ones??? I have been BLESSED to just have warnings, but I have had a few of those over the years. It always amazes me how fast my heart RACES and how it takes me like 5 hours to calm down after it's over!!! Sorry that your week started that way! It can only get better!

I am so sorry about your ticket. I have gotten one ticket and 2 warnings. Kinda funny...because I am the slowest person in the world.

Oh no! So sorry you got a ticket. I did get a ticket about a month or so ago. I was going 51 in a 35....really bad, I know! Anyway, I thought I could talk my way out of it..but alas, I got a ticket anyway...my first one too.

I'm so sorry! I've gotten one ticket, before I married Kevin and he was so sweet to me, I knew he was a keeper!! I think Kevin has gotten 4 or so for the 6 years we've been married, but he drives more! Anyway, I hope your week gets better! Take Care!

That stinks!!! NOPE, never have gotten a ticket. I'm kinda scared to type that.... :) I did get pulled over once though when I was pretty young and got a warning. It scared me to death!

Oh no!! I've actually never gotten a speeding ticket (mirale of all miracles). I was pulled over recently, but by the grace of God he let me go with a warning. It is not fun!

Oh yes, unfortunately, I have. In fact, when my kids were little I had 3 in a row!! I was always preoccupied with them in the car and wasn't paying attention to my speed. Then I had to go to driving school and get an attorney so I wouldn't get too many insurance points. Yep, that was a fun time! NOT!

Aw... LAH, I am SO sorry!!! So frustrating, I know!

I got a speeding ticket when I was 18... I was driving on the widest, straight-as-an-arrow, uncrowded street I have ever seen going only 45... unfortunately the speed limit was 30! I had been shopping for college stuff and when I got home mom and dad asked what I got! I promptly prattled off my list hurridly/excitedly, "an oven mit with matching towls, measuring spoons, a speeding ticket, measuring cups, mixing bowls and a toaster!" They didn't miss the speeding ticket! Lol!!! They weren't mad though - I guess it's a fact of life... all they said was, "you're paying it, ya know?" :-) I thank God for understanding parents!

I had two warnings in one week from the same officer, but no ticket! I talked my way out of both them. Imagine that, me talking. LOL

It doesn't matter how many tickets you get--you'll never catch me!! Ha! However, Mario got one during the first four hours of our vaction this year! Kinda spoils the whole trip when you can't even drive fast the rest of the way! :)

So sorry about the ticket! I know it doesn't help for a happy, busy week!

Yes. Three speeding tickets in my lifetime, fortunately, for me, they weren't "consecutively." My most recent was a ticket for my inspection sticker this past January. That baby cost me $120 bucks and it was only a month over due!!

So sorry about your ticket! I was about to ask you if you remembered when Kelly got her ticket in Mulberry our freshman year at OBU but I see that Kelly has already mentioned it. Do you remember how terrified she was and how many times she said she was sorry? Do you remember that there were at least two people sitting in the front seat of her car, which now that I think about it means we could not have been wearing seatbelts???
I got a ticket for running a red light. That's even worse. Oh, and Lance got a ticket for not moving over to the far lane when a police officer was outside of his car on the side of the interstate. We didn't even know that was a law, but it is a VERY expensive ticket and he was even on probation in Faulkner county for a year. He gets over into the other lane if he even sees a white car on the side of the road now.
Remember when lots of people had radar detectors? Why don't they now? I just thought about that.
I hope EG is good for you while you deal with the PO-lice. (That's how my Nana always pronounced it.)
Love,
KW

Oh no--that stinks! I haven't had a ticket since Mother's Day 2001, but that's only because I've been lucky...watch me get a ticket tomorrow now that I've said that. I'm laughing at Kelly's comment. She and my sister both have bad records.

Don't feel badly, I've had at least 10 tickets! Gentry just got one last month and it cost us $130! For going 10 miles over the limit! Shheeesh, people! With all the money they make off speeding tickets, I can't figure out when the state budget always seems to be running low. Gentry has had tons of tickets, too. Between the two of us, I'm surprised our insurance comapny hasn't laughed us out the door yet!
