Retail Therapy

We went back to the Capitol yesterday to testify in front of the House committee. Unfortunately, the bill did not pass. There were a lot of committee members absent, and evidently not voting due to being absent is the same as a "no" vote. We were only two votes shy with the committee members present. There is a chance the Senator sponsoring the bill will bring it up again before the legislative session adjourns. We'll see what happens. There was an article about the meeting in a couple of Arkansas news papers today. If you are interested, you can read it here. You might even see a familiar face (By the way, I do NOT like that picture. I was intently listening to the folks that came to speak against the bill.).

After all that, Derek took Ella Grace and me to the mall. Nothing does a girl good like shopping. I think I have mentioned before I am in total love with the children's clothes at Gymboree. They have a new line out for girls and I LOVE it because it is all paisley. I remember paisley being popular when I was in junior high school and I loved it then. I'm so glad it's back. I just HAD to get this for Ella Grace...

When it is time to redeem Gymbucks, I will go back and get these matching sandals...
As I was checking out, this shirt caught my eye (they have a new Super Hero line for boys). This t-shirt is SO Evan and I HAD to get it. Afterall, this is what he is to me...

Also, do you know about this bean bag chair? It is called the Fatboy. I don't really like the name, but it is one amazing bean bag chair. My parents got it for Evan for his birthday, and he and EG just LOVE it. You can put it in all different kinds of positions for different seating options or just lay on it flat. LOOOOOVE it!
He has the Junior in red, but they also have them for "big" kids! :)

Last, but not least, I am SUPER excited because some of my best friends in the world and I are going on a cruise in July. There is only one of us left that hasn't gotten married yet ,and she is taking the plunge in November, so we decided to celebrate big with a plunge of our own in a pool on a big ship! I am SO excited and thankful for a husband that is excited for me, too. I'm trying not to think too much about leaving Ev and EG though!

I'm so behind on my blog reading. I have missed you guys! I am hoping to get to do some reading tonight and see what you all have been up to! Hugs!

Leigh Ann- First of all, I am SO SORRY that bill did not pass. That stinks and I know it has to be disappointing after spending so much of your week there. I am going to pray that it comes back up...and that more people show up to vote! That is so important for the insurance to pay.
Secondly- I have NOT seen the paisley Gymboree line and I love it! I love the shirt you got Evan, too. Looks like I need to plan a trip soon, before AK gets here!
Have a great rest of the weekend!

I am so sorry that the bill didn't pass, Leigh Ann. I know you tried so hard. Maybe there will be another opportunity for it to be heard again!

I LOVE Gymboree! There is a little girl in my class who is tiny and she always has the cutest Gymboree clothes and little matching headbands. That paisley dress is super cute!!

Hope you have a great weekend. :)

Dumb legislators. I can think of another "A" word.

ANYWAY - how jealous am I that you are going on a cruise with your girlfriends??

Do not be surprised if you open your suitcase and me, Meag and Moo are in there!! :)

First - I'm very ANGRY that the bill didn't pass and who on earth would speak AGAINST it!! No wonder you looked so sad in that picture (you look pretty though).
Yeah for pretty clothes. I have yet to step foot in gymboree because I know it would be bad and Harper has way too many clothes anyway but I'm a sucker for paisley.
I'm so excited you get to go on a cruise!!! You deserve a vacation more than anyone I know!

Love all the clothes. Too cute! You will enjoy the cruise, I promise! The Fatboy may be coming to our house real soon;) Thanks for showing me that cool little chair!

I, too, am so sorry to hear that the bill didn't pass.

I love Gymboree clothing too, especially at Gymbucks time! Those sandals are the cutest!

You must be counting down the days until your trip. How exciting!

I was so excited this morning when I got my newspaper and saw your picture but soooo sorry the bill did not pass. Hope there is a future for it to pass.

You did a good thing, Leigh Anne and Evan will be proud of you one day when he realizes you fought for him and so many other children!!

Don't give up!

I hate that the bill didn't pass but keep the faith. It will happen!

The shoes and precious and the bean bag...never seen such a thing. It looks cool, though.

You know I can tell you about cruising. You are going to have a blast with your friends! The kiddos will be in good hands with daddy!

This is the first time I have posted on your blog, but I have been a reader for a while. I am so sorry the bill didn't pass. I live in Russellville and you were on the front page of our paper. I don't know you in person, but I want to say how proud of you I am. I know you tried very hard! This is an important issue. On a lighter note, the paisley dress is sooo cute.

I'm sorry that the bill didn't pass. I know it would have meant so much to you. I hope it comes back up... it was so close.

I fell in love with Gymboree!! They have the cutest stuff. It'll be easy to go broke when I have g-babies! The paisley dress is THE cutest!! And I love that you got that shirt for your little hero.

I didn't know you lived in Maumelle - that's where my brother lives. (small world)

Wow. I know it has to be disappointing that the bill didn't pass. I am so disappointed for you! But you have to know that NOTHING is done in vain when it comes to making a difference for our kids and their futures. SOMEONE (and you may never know who) was touched by your efforts and your willingness to stand for what you know God calls you to! He WILL bless it when it's done in His name! I am so proud of you!!
The clothes are TOO cute! We just shopped a little at Kid's Place but didn't make it to Gymboree! We may need to go back!! :)

I am so sorry the bill did not pass. Let's hope the bill comes back up in the legislature again. Your family's journey is going on for now "for such a time as this."

The picture of EG and Derek leaving the capitol is priceless! I think it deserves a frame!! I love framed pictures.
