Thanks, Kroger!

Grocery shopping is one of my least favorite things to do. Our town recently got a beautiful, HUGE, new Kroger. It is very nice, but no amount of pretty is going to make me love the grocery store. Lately, I have been doing my grocery shopping on Sunday evenings. The main reason is so I can go alone to avoid my nemesis, the car shopping cart.

The bright green and yellow cars attached to the front of the grocery cart are oh so fun for the toddler. Mine LOVES them and can spot them in an instant. It doesn't hurt that the friendly staff at Kroger are sure to park them in the very front of their store. I had to get groceries on Tuesday and took Ella Grace along. As soon as we arrive, there they are, and I hear, "I want car!." It admit it does entertain her...

And, she is so happy and proud...

She took this one to show her view from behind the wheel. :)

It's all fun until it's time to leave. Then, there is stalling and a little bit of fit throwing. Once back in the car to go home, comes the hair bow tossing, tear flowing, screaming part of the trip. Good times. Goodness, I hope she NEVER notices those miniature shopping carts for kids. I'd never get her in the car! Thanks, Kroger!

You can see this was an action shot...mid throw of the hair bow! Nice!

Oh, that's funny!! I love that EG got to take a photo from her perspective. I like to think about how little ones see our great big world through their eyes.

EG's always smiling, so the fit picture is too cute!!

I am so thankful my kids have outgrown the shopping cart drama. I always found those car carts SO hard to maneuver! But they kept my kids happy and that was more important than me knocking the endcap display over. I guess. *smile*

We like the race car at Lowe's. We visit so frequently that the employees know our son. Hopefully EG doesn't expect the crazy driving our son expects from his daddy in the store.

Hehe. Poor thing just wants to drive...you just wait a few years!

Looks like my trips to Kroger as well! Glad you got a new store they are nice.

They just put a Publix in our neighborhood and so they have the new race car carts, that look like space ships. It is always a good day when you get the race car cart!

This is sooo funny and I can totally relate! My kids like those too (and they are 6 and 4). We just rode in one at Lowe's the other day, too. The hard thing about pushing one is it is so long that is must be like driving an 18-wheeler, especially when it is loaded down with groceries. You are right though...it DOES keep them occupied and I would drive 4 18-wheelers to keep them happy while I'm grocery shopping!

That was cute that she took the picture from her point of view...there goes your future blogger again :).

Oh my, when I started reading, I could relate, but Lowrey and Annie never threw the fit over getting out of it. I just hated having to push that thing. It was like steering a ship, especially since I hate to grocery shop so much that I usually have enough groceries for a month in there. It looks like they have greatly improved them though since opening the new Kroger out there. I used to threaten Lowrey when I took her by saying that if she cried to ride in the car that she could never go with me again. She loved to go so much that she would just hang her head and walk on by. I would then buy her some bubble gum instead to deal with my guilt over stealing her fun. Am I bad parent or what?

This is so cute and funny all at the same time. Right now Vance's fit throwing centers around wanting to be outside until bed time...never mind dinner or a bath. Good times is right...LOL!

I'm a mean Moma! I talk Alise out of them every time (only one particuliar grocery store that I shop at has these kinds of buggies)! I'm sure there are a thousands things she will get to do in her lifetime, but riding a car buggy ain't one of them! For the exact reasons you mentioned in your blog!!

LOL. I work at a Kroger store and I can tell you from an employee point of view that those car carts are the most annoying things ever. And we don't leave them in front on purpose, it's part of our criteria for our mystery shops. I'm so sorry you had to push that horrid thing around

I recently saw another mom at the grocery store having the same problem. Too funny!

So cute! Luckily, Amelia hasn't noticed the "car carts" yet! They look so hard to maneuver around the store! I'm dangerous enough with a regular cart. I certainly don't need any extra bulk... One of my girlfriends had her two sons sitting in one of those car carts at the store. When she noticed there wasn't a peep coming from them ('cause you know silence is so tell-tale), she looked in and saw they had grabbed a box of powdered donuts and were just going to town on them! Haha!

(And that whole scene with tears and bow-ripping-out/tossing looks oh-so familiar....)

I love this post! I can totally relate! And aren't those the hardest carts to push?!

She is a cutie~even with the tears!

I LOVE the POV shot! She's a little journalist!

I hate grocery shopping, too. HATE it. Would rather clean toilets. :)

So typical!! That is just so funny, Leigh Ann. She's still adorable...even when she's throwing a fit. :)

Wow - that's one fancy Kroger store there ;). We love those carts too - but here they have some really, really, really old ones that don't steer well at all. They should all have "this cart makes wide turn" signs on them because you have to start your turn a good 10 feet before in order to clear a corner. So - don't tell my kids, but I'm kinda happy when we get to the store and they are already taken ;)

BTW - I love the new look of you blog :)

Lol, I know exactly how you feel! Our grocery store has a little TV in the car cart as well, so they can watch their favorite cartoons. It's great while shopping, but the tantrums when we leave are off the charts!! Very cute photos of Ella Grace :-)

SOOO she's a typical kid and you are the typical mom trying to get out of the parking lot without the world seeing the typical fit! I get it. TOTALLY GET IT! Yes, I really do not like the kid buggies. You need a commercial driver's license to drive those stinkin' things! And when you ALREADY dislike going to the store? Well, it's just an added dimension!! LOVE IT! Sorry honey.

Oh this is funny--I can SO relate! Those car-carts...there are no words for those. They will NOT turn. They make me want to cry! And I always think that if the "normal" carts have tons of germs on them, those car carts must have tons times a billion germs for some reason!?

The bow throwing--boy does that look familiar, too! She and my little Lexee Lou would be big buddies. :)

haha!! I so know what you are talking about - try adding 4 more to the mix! AND 3 of them want to ride in the car!!!!

I had to laugh because when Kelly was EG's age we lived right next door to a grocery store and she loved to ride the mechanical pony in front of the store. Her Mam-ma sent her a roll of dimes just so she could ride every time we went to the store! I wish I had a picture of that!

EG is precious!

When I HAVE to go to the grocery store.....is when I start my bow throwing. I hate grocery shopping with a passion. However, if I could get inside one of those little cars it might be a horse of a different color.
