Ice, Ice, Baby!

Since Monday, all of our weathermen here in Arkansas have been preparing our state for a big ice storm. My blog friends (and friends in real life) have been hit hard in the northwest part of our state, having lots of ice causing them to lose power. No power = no fun!

On Tuesday they went ahead and closed school, so Evan, Ella Grace and I literally stayed in our pajamas all day and played, played, and played some more. Derek had to work! It only rained...the kids really could have been in school but I guess better safe than sorry, and I sure enjoyed Evan having a day off. The weathermen were saying Wednesday would be horrible for us, so on the way home from work, Derek stopped by the store to get the essentials for a fun iced in kind of day...you know, chocolate chip cookies and the ingredients needed for cheese dip! We went to sleep knowing school would be closed and Derek wouldn't have to work the next day. Yeah!

I was shocked when I woke up at 8:00 this morning and went to the window to see all the ice. Instead, I saw this...

Umm, where is the ice? I don't see any, do you? I ran in the house telling Derek to get up, as he was late for work and Evan was late for school. I'm a little sad that we didn't have that family time together (especially those cookies and cheese dip), but I'm really glad we didn't have a lot of ice and a power outage!

All of you out there with no power, I hope you are staying warm and you get lights soon!

Oh, and I heard that Harper went off her ventilator today and that Kelly got to feed her. More miraculous news from Tulsa! Can't wait to see an update on her blog tonight! Yeah!

I like the new look for your blog!

We got sleet and then snow last night. They let school out early on Monday but not early enough and we are still out. I expect to be out tomorrow. As we are now down to one car due to the slick roads I guess it's a good thing I don't have to work tomorrow.

Lookin good!

Ugh...this ice is a mess! The power at my apartment is supposed to be out until Saturday. Still no word on how long Kales will be out. Luckily we have some really sweet friends to share their heat and shower!

Sorry you guys didn't get to have your fun day :(

Well, if it makes you feel any better, our weathermen here get it wrong more often than they get it right.

Sorry you didn't get your fun day (cookies and snow days are just made for each other) but I know you're so glad you're not having ice related problems...it's BAD. My dad lives in Rogers and his power is out and my mom lives in J'boro and I hear theirs is out too.

So...I vote for you to have cheese dip for dinner and cookies for dessert!

That always happens to us! They get you all set for a big winter storm of some kind and then....nothing! :( Hopefully you can still have fun eating the cookies and cheese dip!

I can't wait to hear all about Harper today! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!

That is so great about Harper!

Yea, we have had TOO much family time. It started when I picked up the kids early from school early on Mon. and we just saw that tomorrow is cancelled. It wasn't fun having no power, either but we are good to go now!

In Dallas, I ALWAYS wished for ice days! :)

Hey you! I love the new look!!!

Okay, so we got the same deal. Big talk of ice and snow, cancelled school, then nothing but rain! I enjoyed the day off anyway! Then today - back to school! I bet you were tempted to close the drapes and stay in with your precious ones anyway!! :-) It woulda been tempting!

Leigh Ann,
Have I told you lately how much I heart your blog?

We did get ice, sleet, and snow and Dak has been out of school since Tuesday. So it's been Yahtzee and Mexican Train Dominoes and brownies and Chronicles of Narnia movies and a restless 16 year old all week . . . oh yeah and a ton of fun . . . except hubs worked everyday. . . boo!!

Have a Blessed weekend,
Dawn

Yes, we were kind of hoping for the same thing earlier in the week. I had visions of me waking up to see ice on the ground and then getting back into my warm bed while the kids still slept, and playing all day...NOT! We were out the door and headed to school on such a cold morning. I'm sure there will be a Fun Day (I mean snow day) to come :)!

Leigh Ann, I'm at Jodi's enjoying the internet for a while. I've missed all my blog reading. First of all, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your new blog design. How adorable is that??

I'm glad y'all didn't get the power outages. I'm living life on the plain and simple right now. It's been interesting - and I feel like Ma Ingalls. Ha!

I'm SO very thankful for God's goodness to the Stamps family!

Lol sounds like your weather can't decide what to do with itself! I'd have woken up expecting another freezing day too!

I think I would've still stayed in my PJ's and eaten the cookies and cheese dip all by my onesie. :)
