Where Were You?

Of course, no one needs to be reminded of what today's date means. 9/11 was the worst terroristic attack on US soil EVER. I think 9/11 is one of those days in which you don't forget where your were or what you were doing when you heard the news. In my lifetime, besides 9/11, I remember where I was when the Challenger burst into flames (watching it on TV in elementary school) and the Oklahoma City bombing.

For me, Sept. 11, 2001 will forever be ingrained in my memory, as the world stood still that day. I remember being at work (I did work in the "real world" for seven years before I had Evan). One of my employees called to tell me, "A plane just crashed into the World Trade Center." I was shocked. I worked in the telecommunications industry and there was a huge room on our floor with gigantic television screens that were used by the engineers. I ran to that room and they had on the news. The room was dark and there were the horrific sights on the big screens. I just couldn't believe it. It's still hard to believe something like that could happen here...in the United States of America! Every year, especially on 9/11, is another reminder to me how privileged I am live here, all the blessings that come with being an American, and the huge sacrifice our men and women in uniform are making to ensure the freedom of my children.

So, where were you when you heard this terrible news?

I was at home getting ready to go to work at 1:00. I was a store manager for White Barn Candle Co (part of Bath & Body Works). I was eating lunch and called to check work voicemail and the voicemail left was about closing the store early because of what happened and I had no clue what was going on. I turned on the TV and found out. Such a terrible day! I was pregnant with Ethan at the time and Tim was working at a bank and ended up getting layed off after 9-11. You are right, I will never forget that day or the days that followed when that was ALL we watched on TV.

I had just gotten up for the day and getting ready to study for an exam the next day when I turned on Regis and Kelly to find ABC news had cut in. I was glued to the tv for the next 24 hours until I had to go to school. Needless to say, my exam got postponed.

I was at home getting ready for work or somthing. I was watching the Today show and they came on with breaking news.
As it was breaking on the TV, the other plane hit the 2nd tower. It was like being there. I was actually watching TV and they were live and showed it going into the
2nd tower. It was horrible.

It will be a day we will NEVER forget.

I'll never forget that day as long as I live. You can read my blog to see where I was. Please say a special "thank you" to Derek today. If it weren't for men and women in uniform we couldn't enjoy the freedoms we have. God Bless America!

This day always gives me chills and brings back so many memories!

I was getting ready to go to my Nutrition Class at MTSU. I just kept thinking...this is not really happening!

It is a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. The images will forever be there!

You've already read my 09/11 post, so you know where I was. I love to hear all the stories of where people were and what they were thinking... and how it impacted their lives.

I have an even greater love of country since 9/11 and total admiration for our military. My nephew, Cory, is still serving, but his brother, my other nephew, John, was in Iraq during the Shock & Awe. He was in a tank in Nasiriya when they had that long battle over a bridge. Kerry Sanders, NBC, was with his battalion (?)... so every time he came on... I'd be looking for John. Thank GOD he came home safe!

I was asleep and heard my dad's exclamation of horror. I ran into the TV room just to see the first plane hitting the tower. We sat glued to the TV all day, my college campus closed and my mom was sent home early from work. We spent the day as a family just horror stricken. It is a day that I will remember forever.

I was had just gotten out of class when the second plane was hitting. When I got to my next class there was a TV on and when the professor came in he turned off the TV and told us it would be on the news when we got home. The entire class got up and walked out! I went straight to my apartment and watched the horrific news for the rest of the day! I will never forget that day!

I was at work at HH. Those of us not in the classrooms gathered in the breakroom to watch, teachers, and therapists came in to check on breaks and we kept going back & forth to keep them updated. Many parents came early throughout the day to pick their kiddos up. One therapist had a brother who lived just blocks from the towers & worked in one of the towers; we all cried w/her as she tried to reach him that day. She finaly got him & he was safe!

A day none of us will every forget.

I am so grateful to all of our soldiers for standing up for us & our country. THANK YOU to all of them.

I was in bed with my sweet newborn and my husband turned up The Today Show and woke me up. We watched in horror and he said, "Those towers are going to fall." I sat there and waited for them to fall so it wasn't a big surprise when they did. It was really hard to believe that there were still people in there that died with the fall. Alan went to work and I was really scared thinking about all those people. He came home 20 minutes later and we talked about it all day.

Hug Derek and tell him that he is appreciated!

I was in the Mass Communications building watching the huge tv screens just outside my classroom when the second plane hit. I had to take an exam...needless to say, no one did well and the teacher let us all retake it the next week. What stood out to me was how perfect strangers who would've never spoken to each other before were comforting each other.
