Week Of FUN

I decided not to send Evan back to preschool this week. This was his last week anyway, and they were only going to be there Monday-Wednesday. So, I decided it would be a good idea to have the last week before kindergarten to spend time with my baby having fun. Since we didn't go on a vacation this Summer (EG is just too small we decided), Derek decided to take the week off and that we would have a "staycation."

So far on our staycation, we have eaten out, gone to Gymboree, gone to the park, played endlessly in the backyard jumping, swimming and running through the sprinkler, gone to the zoo, and stayed up late and slept in (I am so going to regret this Monday...ha). It has been great! Tomorrow we plan to go to the Jump Zone. All in all, it has been a great week. We have had lots of fun and been able to sleep in our own beds. :)

One thing I am really excited about that I got to do this week is start on Ella Grace's "big girl" room. We had our first episode today when she climbed out, so that is just confirmation to me that I am not starting this too soon. I have picked out her bed and nightstand and went today to firm up her bedding.

This is her new bed and night stand. It doesn't have the posters though.

This is the new duvet. I am loving damask right now. The designer that helped me assured me it would not go out of style. She said it is like toile and will always be in style. If you disagree, don't tell me! Ha! I am like the opposite of all things trendy, and I tend to try to go for things that will be around for a while.

These are the swatches from my original plan. However, when I went to return them today, I nixed the pink polka dots. The bed skirt is now going to be a fluffy organza, and the Euro pillows will be smocked organza. The stripe will be two regular sized pillows and then there will be a boudoir pillow with a coordinating ruffle of pink and green polka dot fabric I picked for the drapes. And of course, the boudoir pillow will be monogrammed because I am a NUT for it.

I loved Ella's nursery. It was kind of shabby chic, but I never felt like it was "finished." Between Derek being gone due to deployment and Ella Grace arriving early, I never got a chance to paint the room or do all of the finishing touches I wanted. This room is opposite of what I did before. It is still pink and green like her nursery but the colors are a lot brighter this time and it includes all the "sweet" touches from the organza, and it just fits the personality that is my Ella Grace! I have also talked Derek into painting her room a bright pink. Now, I can't wait for it to come in, so I can pull it all together. I promise I won't cry when she colors on it 30 minutes after I get it all together. Ha!

Next up, Evan will get a bigger bed and a new duvet. I wish I would have gotten him a double bed instead of a twin in the beginning. There is always something on my list. Are you like that? Do you constantly have something you are working on for your home? It's fun, but it's a lot of work! :)

Oh my goodness, I have little girl envy right now!! Ella Grace has a beautiful room!! I am really into shabby chic and damask and toile too. All of the things that are too girly for my house of men, lol. My house is a constant "to do" list of design. I have so many ideas and only so much money and time to get it all done! Now I am wondering as the boys get older, if I should have bought them double beds instead of twins as well? Ah! There is always something isn't there? What a lucky little girl Ella Grace is, I can't wait to see her finished room!

too cute! i love the colors. the green/pink combo is great - that is sarah's fav right now - she just loves everything that green color.

BTW - for some very cute clothes for EG - check out my friend's mom ETSY shop. Go to Scrappermom's blog (you can find a link to her at my blog) and she has it linked there. I think you will love what you see.

I'm glad ya'll are having a fun week before school starts. :)
EG is going to LOVE her big girl room!!! I can't wait to see it! Ella informed me that she is too big to sleep in that little baby bed! She won't even stay in it lately, much less sleep in it! We are having the hardest time keeping her in her bed since taking the rail off her baby bed. Hope you have some good advice for me soon! :)Can't wait to see EG's finished room! :)It is going to be beautiful!

Awww, that sounds like a good week! We are trying to do quite a bit too before school starts next week (trying not to cry). Ella Grace's room is going to beautiful. I know we will get all kind of pictures when it is done. Keep us updated!

Oh, her room is going to be PERFECT!!! I can't wait to see it all put together!!! I don't feel like I'm trendy either--I tend to go for more classic things. I LOVE all those fabrics! Rhett has a twin bed, and he's so tall for his age that I think we're going to regret not getting a bigger bed, too.

LOVE that! That fabric is GREAT! I'm actually in the middle of "fabric searching" for curtain and bedskirt fabric for my son's bed. It is completely overwhelming.

And yes, I absolutely feel like I am never "ahead". I keep a list of things I want/need to do and it seems that more just get added on before others get checked off.
