Fallin' in Love with Fall

I have never been a huge fan of Fall. Gasp! I am a Summer kind of girl, and Fall to me has always symbolized the end to everything about Summer I love...the beach, swimming pools, the park, suntans, green trees, green grass, watermelon, etc., etc. Plus, I can't stand to be cold. However, as I get older, I am finding myself enjoying Fall more and more. This could be due in part to the fact that having a savage tan is no longer my number one priority since I had children, and I am also finding myself looking forward to a break from all of the heat.

Fall does have one of my favorite holidays of Thanksgiving, but I have never been a fan of Halloween EVER. Even when I was a child, I can remember enjoying getting dressed up in a costume, which were always something we created on our own from things around the house, but I always ended up frightened while going trick-or-treating. To this day, Halloween is still not my favorite, but I am starting to at least like it a bit more. It is fun picking out costumes for Evan and Ella Grace. We usually go to a festival at church or just go trick-or-treating to the grandparents house, so there is nothing scary, just Evan and EG showing off their costumes and racking up on candy. Here they are last Halloween. Evan was a fighter pilot and Ella Grace was a fairy.

I have actually already ordered and received their costumes for this year. I have kind of shocked myself by already having this accomplished! Evan will be a doctor and Ella Grace will be a pumpkin. So, I think I am warming up to Fall and all it brings. I am looking forward to cooler weather, jeans and long sleeves, hot chocolate, and taking E & EG to the pumpkin patch and for a hay ride. I even told Derek was looking forward to football this year, and he about fell out! I think his exacts words were, "Uh uh. Really?" Ha!

Hi Leigh Ann. I'm a HUGE fan of summer, but an even bigger fan of fall. Our mornings here have been crips and cool and very fallish. I love it.

Man...you're on top of things with those Halloween costumes. I'm usually scrambling around at the last minute trying to figure something out!

I'm with you... I'm a summer person, but lately I've been thinking about building our first fire and making soup and pumpkin bread (which I baked last night!).

I love the costumes. How cute. My parents used to make ALL of our costumes. I'll share some in October on my blog. Adorable.

Have a great week.

I love summer, too. But I just like the crisp air after all the heat and humidity. And a crystal clear October sky is just so gorgeous!! It's still too hot here to really get totally into it yet, but I know cooler days are on the way and I'm looking forward to all the fall fun.

PS--those Halloween costumes are adorable!! I hate all the scary stuff about Halloween, too, but I think it can be a cute, fun holiday if you keep it that way for your own kids just like you do. Just dressing up and getting candy and nothing evil or dark!

i too prefer the warmth of summer, but i do love the beautiful colors of fall and the crisp air before it gets too cold. I love Thanksgiving, but for many reasons (perhaps, I'll share in a post someday) I have never been crazy about Halloween.

Love the costumes you have for E & EG, of course S thinks she's too big to dress up now & T will only dress up if it is mega scary or gory.

I am ready for pumpkins & hayrides!

I LOVE the Halloween pic from last year!!! :) How great that you already have their costumes for this year! Evan and EG are going to look SO cute!!! What a great planner you are! I'm not a fan at all of COLD weather, but it usually doesn't get very cold here, so I guess I'm ready for Fall! :)

You'd love the southwest! Sunny warm days everyday. I didn't think I would be, we'll actually miss fall a little this year after just moving from the east coast :) We'll just have to decorate like crazy and turn up the air conditioner to feel the cool crisp days, ha!

I LOVE Fall!! I just love EG's pumpkin costume, that is so adorable and I can't wait to see pictures of Evan dressed up as doctor! I love Halloween because I just love dressing the boys up in their costumes. I think last year, Aidan had 3,lol!!

How funny! I was never a huge fall fan in particular, just a big fan of the seasons changing... I like with the weather shifts, and the breeze starts to kick up, there is just something energetic in the air! As I have gotten older I become more and more a fan of fall! Even though I savor summer, there is something about football season, the start of school, Thanksgiving... all of that that I love!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the haloween constumes you got for E and EG this year! I'm not a big haloween fan either, but I do like costumes and little trick-or-treaters! All the big spooky decorations and all that other stuff's not my bag! :-)

Fall does have some wonderful things to offer!

Their costumes are both so cute! I'm not a big Halloween fan either, but we've had a kids' costume party every year since R was born, and it's so much fun to see the kids dressed up! Last year we just met at the park--kids in costume--and had Halloween cupcakes (more of a playdate than a party)...I'll let you know when we do it--I would love for you guys to come!!!
